"To be fair, that describes a lot of the cooking I had back home. Los Angeles has wonderful food." Still, he knows that Kyle isn't talking about a lifetime of mutton and potatoes. He's seen the way he eats, Sean knows he's spent a long time without anything good. "I suppose there's something to it, y'know? People aren't easy to be rid of, no matter how bad things get."

And Kyle's description of the future is bad. It reminds him nothing so much as Niall talking about the trenches, hiding down in the muck and waiting in agony for the shelling to stop.

He has a bite of the sandwich and sighs happily. Sean's going to eat well, read one of the new pulps they got, and tuck in for a nice sleep... though...

"You uh... you sleeping alright?" Sean doesn't want to pry too much, but he's woke up a few times and heard Kyle. He twitches when he sleeps, and a little more.
